Available for Adoption

Greyhounds Available for Adoption

Our latest session at Hardee Correctional has begun. We have a fabulous group of greyhounds available for adoption, and all of them will be ready to move into their forever home when they graduate.

The following dogs are currently available for adoption unless noted:

BAGA Spirit

Spirit:  “RCK Never Silent,” whose pet name is Spirit, is a shiny jet-black male with tattoos of 104H 65013 and was whelped on 10-4-2014. Spirit is friendly and easy-going, somewhat playful, but more of a laid-back guy. Spirit’s 91 races were run at Southland Park in Arkansas and the TriState track in West Virginia. He achieved a very respectable record of 7 wins and 11 “places.” Spirit has been pre-adopted and will be moving into his Forever Home on September 7, when he graduates from the program.   He is sponsored by Bay Area Greyhound Adoptions at (813) 272-2332 or BAGA@tampabay.rr.com

SAM_0256_1

Jeff (sometimes spelled Geoff) is described by his foster family as “a super-sweet guy who is very happy.” How do we know he’s happy? Just watch his wagging tail and his big smile! He is a snazzy black fellow with what we call a “tuxedo” white chest and white-tipped paws.   Hello, Friends! My name is Jeff – and I must admit I really LOVE my squeaky toys! I like to collect all my toys; and if you can’t find them, just look in my bed – my favorite “toybox.” How about that, I pick up after myself! I have recently been to the eye doctor for some challenges with my vision, but they will not affect my ability to be a real lovable, affectionate, and happy guy and a great addition to the right Forever Family. Hugs and love and smiles – that’s me! Jeff is currently enrolled in the Hardee Hero Hound greyhound and inmate basic obedience program and will be graduating on August 3. He is available through Gold Coast Greyhound Adoptions.  For more information, please contact the Greyhound Advancement Center at 813-444-7391 or greyhoundadvancement@gmail.com

maggie_0095

Maggie: With a professional name of “Margarets Vacation,” this young lady was born on 2/9/2014, wears tattoos 24B 63119, and is a lovely brindle color.   Hi! My name is Maggie, and I had quite a good racing career! I ran 140 races, won 10 times, and came in second 23 times – not bad, eh? Except for my first 3 training runs, I did all my running at Daytona Beach Kennel Club. ☺ I have been described as “super sweet and playful.” Does that surprise you? It shouldn’t! I am already adopted and will be living in a home with another Hardee graduate, “Rooty.” We’ll be able to practice our prison training together once I graduate!   Maggie will be graduating on August 3 and has been pre-adopted through Gold Coast Greyhound Adoptions.  For more information, please contact the Greyhound Advancement Center at 813-444-7391 or greyhoundadvancement@gmail.com.

lucky_0122

Lucky: Lucky, whose professional name was “AJN Red Rooster,” came into this world on 2/23/2016, and has tattoos of 26B 68127.   Lucky is a handsome boy, mostly light red but with a “5 o’clock shadow” muzzle. He is doing well with his trainers, and is learning his house manners and “door etiquette.” He is a social boy and is developing additional confidence at Hardee. Lucky has what we greyhounders call a “high prey drive,” meaning that he would do best in a home with no cats or small animals. Lucky is currently enrolled in the Hardee Hero Hound greyhound and inmate basic obedience program and will be graduating on August 3. He is available through Gold Coast Greyhound Adoptions.  For more information, please contact the Greyhound Advancement Center at 813-444-7391 or greyhoundadvancement@gmail.com.

kahoni_0115

Kahoni: Kahoni, whose professional name was “Yolo Kahoni,” was whelped on 4/10/2015, is brindle in color, and wears tattoos of 45A 66176.   Hi, there! My name is Kahoni, and (not to brag or anything) I have been described as “a very handsome and sweet boy.” I ran 97 races, winning 19 times and coming in second an additional 14 times. I started my career at the Caliente track in Tijuana, Mexico, and retired from Derby Lane in St. Petersburg, FL. I am already “bilingual,” and that makes for extra fun here at Hardee because several of our trainers speak Spanish also! I have been to the eye doctor for some challenges with my vision, but they will not affect my ability to be a real lovable, affectionate, and happy guy and a great addition to the right Forever Family. I will do best if I am the only pet in your home. Kahoni is currently enrolled in the Hardee Hero Hound greyhound and inmate basic obedience program and will be graduating on August 3. He is available through Gold Coast Greyhound Adoptions.  For more information, please contact the Greyhound Advancement Center at 813-444-7391 or greyhoundadvancement@gmail.com

BAGA Milo

Milo:  “Mega Millionaire,” who is now known as Milo, is a good-looking light brindle male with tattoos of 66B 67825 and was whelped on 5-29-2016. He is a nice boy who is big, strong, playful, and very eager to please. Not surprisingly, Milo is really enjoying all his lessons, classmates, and trainers at Hardee. Milo did all his racing at Derby Lane in St. Petersburg, running in 35 events. Milo has been pre-adopted and will be moving into his Forever Home on September 7, when he graduates from the program.   He is sponsored by Bay Area Greyhound Adoptions at (813) 272-2332 or BAGA@tampabay.rr.com.

BAGA Honey

Honey:  Professionally known as “Yolo Honomu,” Honey is one beautiful little girl! Her tattoos are 125C 67859. She was whelped on 12/26/2015, and she is one of the most colorful, friendly, happy, and playful greyhounds you will find. She is a really pretty white and dark brindle girl, and she is an average size for a female greyhound at 65 lbs. She is very outgoing and loves all people. She will even stand up to you and give you a hug, and loves all the attention she gets from her humans. She gets along well with the other greyhounds in her Hardee class, and would do well with another medium to large size dog in the home. She is probably too active and playful to be in a home with small children. She should be fine with older children (10 or over). She tested as friendly with the cat when we tested her, but has not lived with cats. She might try to chase a cat if it ran, so we consider her as a dog that would be OK with a cat if her owners would work with her and if the cat was not the type that would run from her. Honey is currently enrolled in the Hardee Hero Hound greyhound and inmate basic obedience program. She will be available to move into her Forever Home on September 7, when she graduates from the program.   For more information about Honey, please contact Bay Area Greyhound Adoptions at (813) 272-2332 or BAGA@tampabay.rr.com

BAGA Guinness

Guinness:  “Mr Nate,” who is now known as Guinness, is a handsome fellow with a black coat, white accents, and tattoos of 76A 69023. He came into this world on 7-26-2016. Although he had a short racing career and is a still quite young, he has a very laid-back, gentle, and calm demeanor. Guinness is a friendly guy and is having a greyt time with his classmates and trainers at Hardee! Guinness has been pre-adopted and will be moving into his Forever Home on September 7, when he graduates from the program.   He is sponsored by Bay Area Greyhound Adoptions at (813) 272-2332 or BAGA@tampabay.rr.com

BAGA Gracie

Gracie:  Professionally known as “Blutoopnutbritle,” Miss Gracie wears a lovely red brindle coat, was whelped on 5-30-2014, and has ear tattoos of 54I 53995. This young lady had an extensive career of 155 races, beginning at Palm Beach Kennel Club and finishing at Derby Lane in St. Petersburg. She won an impressive 15 times, came in second in 20 more races, and is looking forward to an equally fun retirement! She is gentle, friendly, easy-going, and loves her squeaky toys. Gracie has been pre-adopted and will be moving into her Forever Home on September 7, when she graduates from the program.   She is sponsored by Bay Area Greyhound Adoptions at (813) 272-2332 or BAGA@tampabay.rr.com.

BAGA Deena

Deena:  This young lady, whose racing name was “Figfin Deena,” has a lovely red brindle coat and a white chest, was whelped on 2-15-2016, and wears ear tattoos of 26A 68077. Deena’s career included 38 races, all run at Derby Lane in St. Petersburg. Although she did not win any of those trips around the track, she came in second 8 times and is quite proud of that! She is a calm, easy-going girl, and is very happy to be a “student” in the Hardee program. Deena has been pre-adopted and will be moving into her Forever Home on September 7, when she graduates from the program.   She is sponsored by Bay Area Greyhound Adoptions at (813) 272-2332 or BAGA@tampabay.rr.com.
