Guidelines for visiting Hardee & CFRC

At this time, due to COVID-19, no one is permitted on the grounds of Hardee Correctional or the Central Florida Reception Center (CFRC) unless specifically approved.

Anyone who visits Hardee Correctional or CFRC must wear a mask.  Please connect with the Greyhound Advancement Center for Safe Handling Procedures if you are picking up or dropping off a greyhound.

Everything you need to know before your visit

Basics of attending graduation

One month before graduation

Your information (drivers license and possible social security number) must be submitted to Greyhound Advancement Center to be an approved guest of the correctional institution. This will include a background check.

Day of Graduation

What to wear and bring

  • Wear your Greyhound Advancement Center t-shirt

  • Wear sneakers, pants, loose fitting clothing, nothing revealing, minimize jewelry

  • Only bring your ID and car keys

  • Discuss any required medications with GAC in advance

  • Do not wear blue jeans or blue pants or camouflage

  • Do not bring your cell phone into the prison

  • Do not wear a smartwatch or look-alike

  • Do not bring plastic bags (poop bags) into prison

  • You may bring unopened packages of hot dogs and training treats to thank our trainers as a group. Please give the items to our volunteers to bring inside.

Rules inside the prison

  • Keep all discussions focused on dogs; never discuss personal lives.

  • Address the trainer as “Mr. Surname.” Refer to yourself by first name only.

  • Gratitude can be shown with a handshake. Never hug the trainers.

  • Remember you’re in prison; be aware at all times; use the “buddy system”

  • Do not correct or offer suggestions to trainers or officers. Discuss privately with GAC members.

  • If you see any problems, find a GAC volunteer and discuss with them.
